Official Mediterranean Diet (“we”, “us”, “the site”) respects your privacy and is committed to handling your personal data lawfully and transparently. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what your rights are.
What we collect
- Email address (only if you subscribe to the newsletter). Stored by our email service provider (Kit, formerly ConvertKit). Used only to send the content you signed up for. Unsubscribe link in every email.
- Anonymous usage data. Page views, referrers, browser type, country-level location. Collected via Google Analytics 4. Used to understand which content is useful so we can write more of it.
- Comments (if you leave one). Your name, email, optional website, and comment text are stored as part of the comment record. Your email is never displayed publicly.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not sell your data. Ever.
- We do not share your email with third parties beyond our email service provider (Kit).
- We do not run tracking pixels for advertising networks beyond Google Analytics’ standard anonymous reporting.
Cookies
The site uses cookies for: (1) Google Analytics anonymous reporting, (2) remembering your comment-author info, (3) functional preferences. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work but some features may degrade.
Affiliate links
Some posts contain affiliate links (Amazon Associates, Thrive Market, etc.). When you click these links and make a purchase, the site may earn a small commission at no cost to you. The affiliate network sets a cookie to attribute the sale. This cookie does not give us access to your purchase history; it only tells the network that you came from our site.
Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)
- Right to access — Email us and we’ll tell you what we have on file for you (the answer is usually: just your email if you subscribed).
- Right to deletion — Unsubscribe via the link in any email. Request comment removal via the contact form.
- Right to portability — Email us; we’ll export what we have.
Children’s privacy
The site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us and we’ll delete it.
